Capture the vibes of a Nordic night with the SARPANEVA K0 Northern Stars by Finnish Independent watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva.
For his iconic moon phase watches, Stepan modifies the quick set calendar mechanism of the Soprod A10 caliber to work perfectly as a moon phase complication. Stepan introduces a wheel with 59 teeth (two teeth for each day of the 29.5 day cycle) in place of the date wheel which ordinarily has 31 teeth. He then takes added steps to ensure the mechanism will not break should the hands move in an anti-clockwise direction. On the reverse side we find yet another solid white gold Moonface on the winding rotor with lattice pattern.
The scalloped case is another SARPANEVA signature and is is a joy to wear. Though the diameter is 46mm, my impression is the case wears closer to 44mm on the wrist. The case measures 46mm x 11mm x 50mm lug-to-lug and is in near mint condition. Furnished on a long length rally style calfskin strap with signed SARPANEVA stainless steel buckle as well as an additional black rubber strap. Complete with Box and Papers dated 12/20/2019.
