PITA Barcelona Oceana Titanium 5000M - Serial #23/60 (Pre-Owned)
PITA Barcelona Oceana Titanium 5000M - Serial #23/60 (Pre-Owned)
Presenting a watch with one of the deepest ratings ever in the history of horology, and unquestionably the deepest in Independent Watchmaking, the PITA Barcelona Oceana Titanium can withstand pressures of an astonishing 5000M.
To accomplish this task, Aniceto Pita of Spain approached this watch in a most unconventional way. The entire case is manufactured without holes, thus eliminating all potential weak points for water ingress. Because no holes thereby means no crown (and oh yeah, zero gaskets), Mr. Pita implemented his patented Pita-RT (Remote Transmission) which utilizes a series of magnets to interface with the completely sealed automatic winding movement. The time is set by rotating the riveted caseback in either direction through his also patented Pita-TSM(Time Setting Mechanism). Finally, to withstand the great depths, the stainless steel case is constructed with 4mm thick walls and is joined to a 9.8mm thick Polycarbonate crystal which is nearly unbreakable.
The three-spoked seconds hand is actually a lot more creative than I first gave it credit for as each color serves a de facto Depth Gauge! As a diver submerges deeper underwater, red will disappear first, followed by yellow, then finally blue. The strap is also thoughtfully designed, as a mass of rubber works as a brake to prevent the caseback from inadvertently rotating when strapped on the wrist.
Stainless Steel case measures 43mm x 21.6mm (including crystal) x 54mm lug-to-lug. Furnished with original box and additional OEM blue rubber strap and PITA steel buckle.
