Horology By The Sea is thrilled to present one of the most poetic and technically accomplished pieces in contemporary German watchmaking: the Lang & Heyne Moritz in 18k rose gold.
The dial is a study in refined symmetry executed on a solid silver base printed with Arabic numerals sit alongside a railway minute track with red 5-minute markers. Slender flame-blued steel spade hands sweep centrally for hours and minutes. At 6 o’clock you’ll find the eccentric small seconds paired with a beautifully rendered moon phase crafted from 18k. gold and enamel. The complete calendar is laid out with elegant clarity: date and day of the week at 3 o’clock, month at 9 o’clock, and—perhaps the most captivating detail—the declination of the earth at 12 o’clock, shown via a gold-engraved, color-enameled disc customizable for your preferred region of the world.
The reverse side reveals Lang & Heyne's manual winding Caliber III which beats at 2.5Hz and delivers a Power Reserve of 46 hours. For the beauty alone, a round brilliant diamond sits above the escapement jewel. Engraved on the baseplate adjacent to the balance wheel is the face of Janus, the ancient Roman god of beginnings, transitions, time, and endings.
The 18 Karat Rose Gold case measures 44mm x 12.5mm x 51.5mm lug-to-lug. Furnished on an OEM dark brown alligator strap with signed 18 karat rose gold pin buckle and an additional worn OEM navy alligator strap. Complete with Box and Papers dated December 26th, 2019.
