A triumphant first effort from its founder Aren Bazerkanian, the HN00 walks a fine line of creating something new while also feeling somewhat familiar.
This piece features a lovely "Arka Blue" dial with a circular Grain d' Orge guilloché pattern. The Grade 5 titanium case measures 40.7mm in diameter x 12.2mm thick at its slimmest point, and 14.8mm at its thickest. This may sound a little thicker than most prefer, however the entire caseback (sapphire crystal included) curves in a way that makes this watch super comfortable on the wrist.
Aren chose an excellent movement for the HN00, an automatic winding Schwarz Etienne with micro-rotor. The Côtes de Genève bridges have been treated with a dark plating which creates a punch contrast to the gold colored wheels and font.
I have to admit, until this watch arrived on my desk, the HN00 wasn't something I had given much consideration to. The pattern of the dial creates a truly interesting swirling spotlight effect, which combined with the darkened periphery caused by the fumé is a complete joy to witness. I have yet to photograph it but the hands and indices are indeed lumed as well.
