Horology By The Sea is thrilled to present this exceptionally rare "Väring" Special Edition from GoS Watches of Sweden, a true masterpiece born from the artisan collaboration of master bladesmith Johan Gustafsson and master watchmaker Patrik Sjögren. Drawing direct inspiration from Viking heritage and traditional Swedish craftsmanship, the Väring seamlessly marries raw, hand-forged elemental artistry with refined high-end horology.
The dial side serves as a canvas for mesmerizing metallurgy, anchored by a custom hand-forged Damascus steel plate comprised of 192 layers of fused steel arranged in a swirling "pools" pattern.Framed by a solid bronze chapter ring with patinated surfaces and hand-polished chamfers, the bottom layer of the rehaut features a hidden ring of Super-LumiNova.Sweeping across this textured dial are hand-finished solid bronze spear-style hands, complemented by central running seconds.
Flipping the watch over reveals the exquisite GoS02 caliber, a manually wound mechanical movement based on the Technotime TT718 architecture and adjusted to COSC chronometer standards.The movement operates at 4Hz and delivers a power reserve of 120 hours across twin barrels. The deep, hand-polished beveled edges strikes a brilliant counterpoint to the rugged organic metalwork of the watch face.
The case construction is a striking bi-metallic architecture composed of a hand-polished stainless Damascus steel case ring paired with a satinized and pre-patinated CuSn8 bronze bezel and caseback.The case measures 43.5mm x 10.5mm thickness x 51.5mm lug-to-lug, and is in excellent condition. Furnished on an OEM black Moose leather strap with Bronze pin buckle. Complete with Box & Papers dated September 25th, 2018.
