Forged from stainless steel and housed in Sarpaneva’s unmistakable Korona case, the Stardust “Mars” edition features an open-worked dial that reveals depth and shadow, framed by futuristic, stenciled numerals that feel lifted from instruments built for interplanetary travel. Mars moves in contrast. Its red-gold plated, matte base dial radiates restrained heat - not flame, but smouldering warmth. The tone recalls oxidised metal and celestial dust, glowing softly beneath a veil of frost, as if warmth is present but fading, held in suspension.
Through the crystal caseback of the Stardust, the rhodium-plated geometries of Chronode’s ultra-contemporary P.1003 calibre tick surely and steadily. Small seconds allows Stepan to create around the subdial’s spacious, eccentric positioning. The Moon is certainly involved, in the bespoke winding “New Moon Face” rotor.
The Stainless Steel “Korona” case measures 42mm x 10.4mm x 46mm lug-to-lug and is Water Resistant to 100M. Furnished on an Epsom calfskin strap for $19,600, or with the fantastic Moonbridge Steel bracelet for $22,500.
