Horology By The Sea is proud to present this lovely pre-owned example of the SARPANEVA "Stardust Nostromo", a Special Edition of 20 pieces to celebrate return to Finland in his pursuit of independence as a watchmaker. Stepan Sarpaneva transforms his iconic platform into a space-age, architectural masterpiece, blending raw mechanical geometry with an unmistakably futuristic persona.Resting under front and rear sapphire crystals with internal multi-anti-reflective treatment, the timepiece strikes a breathtaking balance between traditional hand-finishing and high-octane modern design.
The dial side presents a complex, hand-finished 7-part stainless steel openworked construction finished with a dark DLC coating. The stenciled numerals are hand-painted with four distinct Swiss Super-Luminova® colors resulting in an incredible multi-tone glow in low light.Timekeeping shifts away from traditional central seconds to an off-centre running rocketship-shaped small seconds hand positioned at 10 o'clock.
The reverse side reveals a modified Chronode P.1003 operating at a frequency of 4Hz and carries a 60 hour power-reserve of 60 hours. The movement is automatic winding by way of a bespoke Sarpaneva "new moon" face rotor mounted on ceramic ball bearings, adding the watchmaker’s signature lunar identity directly to the mechanical heart.
The sculpted Korona-style case is machined from high-grade Finnish Outokumpu SUPRA 316L/4435 stainless steel, featuring alternating hand-brushed and micro-polished surfaces throughout its scalloped flanks, along with an offset screw-down crown at 4 o'clock providing 10 ATM of water resistance.The case measures 42mm x 10mm x 46mm lug-to-lug and is in excellent condition. Furnished on an OEM black alligator strap with Sarpaneva steel pin buckle and an additional OEM rubber strap with Sarpaneva steel pin buckle. Complete with Box & Papers dated May 23rd, 2023.
