Moritz Grossman Tremblage Stainless Steel - Serial 11788 (Pre-Owned)
Moritz Grossman Tremblage Stainless Steel - Serial 11788 (Pre-Owned)
Just arrived is this mint condition Moritz Grossman with a beautiful Tremblage dial. To achieve this dial, material is removed so the black polished Breguet numerals, circular small seconds, and M. Grossman logo appear in relief. An artisan then painstakingly chisels out tens of thousands of small impressions of the German silver to complete a dial which altogether takes several days to complete. The blued hands are exquisite and have become a signature of the brand.
The reverse side reveals a movement with lovely hand finishing and engraving. Three clear jewels are encircled by raised gold chatons fastened by purpled screws. The crown wheel is black polished in contrast to the snailed ratchet wheel and frosted 2/3 plate. At the edge of the plate you fill find mirrored anglage. The balance cock features some of the nicest engraving found in the industry, which lays the foundation for the Micrometer screw adjustment system.
This watch features a sophisticated method of setting the time. A gentle pulling of the crown will hack the oversized 14.2mm balance wheel. Once the wheel has stopped, the user may rotate the crown to adjust the time. Visually, the crown does not ever appear to exit from the first (and only) position. Once the time has been set, pressing the button below the crown will uncouple the hand setting mode and free the balance wheel, setting the time in motion. This mechanism prevents any possible moving of the hands... a common problem in other watches.
