If you have to go mainstream, you can't do much better than the Tradition reference 7097 from Breguet. The watch carries plenty of interest front to back. The balance wheel and gear train is brought to the forefront in a super pleasing arrangement that flanks around the centrally located barrel. Seconds are featured in retrograde at the 10 o'clock position while a small subdial with clous de Paris guilloche and (of course) Breguet hands finish the look. On the reverse is an anvil shaped rotor crafted in solid 18k white gold which harkens back to Breguet's original winding system dating back to the year 1780.
This watch was by no means a safe queen when viewed in macro but on the wrist its flaws are in all the right places.
